John Adams - Our Second President

Born on this day in 1735

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

Oil Fields Are Refilling...Naturally - Sometimes Rapidly

What the scientists suspect is that very old petroleum -- formed tens of millions of years ago -- has continued migrating up into reservoirs that oil companies have been exploiting for years. But no one had expected that depleted oil fields might refill themselves.

One Big Inner City

As the federal government centralizes more and more power and continues to manage more and more of our lives and provide solutions to all of our wants and needs, the states will become less relevant and the borders that separate the states will fade. The United States of America, these words have meaning, 50 individual states united, not forced to unite, rather wanting to unite, if they were forced to unite they would not be free. We The People need to make sure our country is strong and to do that the U.S. Constitution must not be ignored. If we are week when we are divided we need to address those things that divide us. If the issues that divide us are a result of the individual states loosing their sovereignty to a central government because our Constitution has been ignored, the solutions will eventually be out of our reach.

Just as it is difficult to put the Genie back in the bottle, it is also next to impossible to eliminate entitlement programs that are started with presumably good intentions. A safety net soon becomes a ball and chain and creates a permanent dependency for some. Is the safety net really designed to be temporary and if so where is the evidence. Rewarding poor behavior rather than good behavior has destroyed the family structure and faith in a higher power in most of our inner cities. Schools are failing because families are failing. The dependency created by welfare and rewarding single mothers with more welfare payments as they continue to have more and more children out of wedlock will create more votes for the liberals in all levels of government but only at the expense of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Compassion should be measured by how many people you can get off of welfare not on. Conservatives believe in giving people a hand up not a hand out. We all have heard the saying; Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. All welfare programs should be designed to give people a hand up not a hand out, with rewards for good behavior not bad. Winning votes by keeping people in a state of dependency destroys the human spirit and also destroys the neighborhoods where it resides.

If we look at some of the solutions that have been provided for the inner cities we may be able to see what is in store for us on the national level. As the federal government gets more powerful by the day it will take over more and more responsibilities that were once handled by individuals, families, Churches, charities and local governments. Not only will the costs be higher, the solutions will be more complex and broad. What might be the right solution in one community might not work in another. The goal of solving all of our problems on a national level rather than the local level will just create more problems similar to those of the inner cities. Once again good intentions will need to be questioned. Could it be more about power and votes?

Just as the inner cities have become dependent on welfare programs so too will the nation as a whole if we continue down the road we are on. Government run health care will lay the ground work for this to play out. The sovereignty of the individual and the states will be sacrificed for NATIONAL health care. When the Obama administration, the liberal Democrats and maybe a couple of Republicans ignore other possible solutions that don't require the federal government but would rather leave it up to the people and the states, you have to wonder what their real intentions are. Do they really care that much about your health or is it really about the power and control that it brings to them?

Amendment X
The powers not delegated to the United States
by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States,
are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

If we ignore the U.S. Constitution and continue to create more and more entitlements on a national level, not only will we become one big state, we may become one big inner city and it won't be the Shining city on the hill that Ronald Reagan talked about.

Good people and wealth leave the cities that have been destroyed by liberal policies that reward poor behavior and penalize good behavior. Will good people and wealth leave our country like they did the inner cities? Are we willing to make the sacrifices necessary and return to our constitution to look for the answers or will the ball and chain of dependency hold a majority of us down?

Raise The Roof And Keep On Spending

Check out the debt clock to your right, it is about to hit 12Trillion. Can you imagine what the interest only payment would be on 12 trillion!

Congress has raised the debt ceiling four times in the past two years and will probably have to do it again in the next month.

With the government borrowing record amounts of money, the nation's current debt ceiling of $12.1 trillion will be pierced soon. Full story at CNNMoney.com

If you would like to see what your share of the debt is click on the Detailed Debt Clock link to your right. Please allow a few seconds for the page to load. Your total share is on the bottom right.

Will the debt clock ever slow down, stop, and start going the other way?

“I must say, I never expected to see the day where I would be talking about anything other than reducing the debt, I'm running into the tyranny of zero, which is where you can't reduce (the debt) any more” - Alan Greenspan

“Debt is the fatal disease of republics, the first thing and the mightiest to undermine governments and corrupt the people” - Wendell Phillips

“If I owe you a pound, I have a problem; but if I owe you a million, the problem is yours.” - John Maynard

Fighting Freedom vs. Freedom Fighting

What I Heard in Honduras - Jim Demint (Senator South Carolina)

America's Founding Fathers—like the framers of Honduras's own constitution—believed strong institutions were necessary to defend freedom and democracy from the ambitions of would-be tyrants and dictators. Faced by Mr. Zelaya's attempted usurpations, the institutions of Honduran democracy performed as designed, and as our own Founding Fathers would have hoped.
Hondurans are therefore left scratching their heads. They know why Hugo Chávez, Daniel Ortega and the Castro brothers oppose free elections and the removal of would-be dictators, but they can't understand why the Obama administration does. wsj piece here

Our ambassador is the only person I met there who thinks there was a 'coup.' Let's release the State Department legal analysis.

We can disagree on policies and programs our President supports, but fighting freedom and the right of another country to uphold their constitution is not right vs. left , it is right vs. wrong.

Old School

BUTTE, MONTANA

Shotgun preteen vs. Illegal alien Home Invaders:Butte , Montana November 5, 2007
Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home. It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine..Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun. Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals. When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive. It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45 caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David 0Burien, was not so lucky. He died from multiple stab wounds to the chest. Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news........an 11 year old girl, properly trained, defended her home, and herself......against two murderous, illegal immigrants......and she wins,She is still alive.. Now that is Gun Control !

Who's Smarter?

Presidents will come and go, and hopefully BO will go in 2012. When some presidents go they take pieces of our constitution with them. Through out history there have been Presidents who thought they were smarter than our founding fathers and other Presidents who admired and had deep respect for them. The ones that thought they were smarter were and are very dangerous. It has been a slow steady drift away from the principals of our founding fathers , and now with the new radical and not so smart Democratic Party controlling congress and the white house, the remaking of our country is under way at a record pace.

Now back to those presidents who think they are smarter than our founding fathers.

Who’s smarter?

Barack Obama - Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

George Washington – The constitution is the guide which I will never abandon.
________________________________________________________________

Barack Obama - I don't take a dime of their [lobbyist] money, and when I am president, they won't find a job in my White House. (Lie)

James Madison - All men having power ought to be distrusted to a certain degree.
________________________________________________________________

Barack Obama - I think when you spread the wealth around it’s good for everybody.

Thomas Jefferson - The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
________________________________________________________________

Barack Obama - It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion…

George Washington - It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.
George Washington - Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty's teeth.
_______________________________________________________________

Barack Obama - Over the last 15 months, we've traveled to every corner of the United States. I've now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.

A fifth grader – There are 50 states Mr. President
